Im sure its been posted before. Love the forum by the way.
I got a 17-inch widescreen IMAC 1GB memory 160GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) ATI Radeon X1600 with 128MB GDDR3 memory. A friend of mind had a 15inch gateway lcd screen hes not going to use. I know all i need 1st is the adapter to plug it in my mac then i will have a wider display. My question is will i be able to browse on my mac while my daughter watches a dvd on the gateway next to me? Or will i need anything else. Mainly i just want to run different programs on each screen sometimes. Is that where the mirror thing comes into play? Thanks again all, and sorry if its been reposted. :apple:

you will need a mini dvi to dvi or vga adapter from apple

That is all, the imac will recognize the monitor. Do not select mirroring otherwise the displays will show the same information.

I am using a 24" iMac and older 20" Cinema display. No problems at all here.

Hope this helps

Dave
