I'm planning on buying a new laptop in the next year, but my current Macbook Pro's MagSafe 2 charger needs replacement. Is there a way for me to use the NEW USB-C chargers with my Older MacBook Pro (MagSafe 2) so I can have an extra charge when I do buy a new laptop.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this is not an option in regards to OEM chargers. When you do replace the laptop and move to USB-C though, you can look forward to not having to replace a perfectly good charging block just because the cable wore (plus, you can look forward to perfectly safe IF-Certified 3rd party charging options.)
