wow! i finally found a store that had the new PowerBooks in stock, so now i'm just trying to shift over all the stuff that i have backed up from 3 months ago. :rolleyes:

i've got my old Safari Bookmarks, they're called "bookmarks.xml" and "bookmarks02.xml". so i've got these two bookmark files with heaps of important bookmarks in them... and i can't get them to work with Safari 1.0. the new Safari uses a bookmark file called "Bookmarks.plist".

does anyone know how i can get my old bookmarks to work with the new version of Safari? i really need to get this sorted out...

on a kind of related note... i also have my old keychain backed up. now this is also an important file, with heaps of my old passwords etc. does anyone know how i can get my old keychain file to work? i've tried placing it in the same folder with the current keychains, but nothing happened...

thanks for any help, it's much appreciated. :)

huh? no replies? i really need help with this.

i just looked at both the old and new favourites files in TextEdit. here's part of the old .xml file:

<bookmarks xmlns="http://chimera.mozdev.org/bookmarks/"><folder name="Toolbar Bookmarks" type="toolbar"><bookmark name="Chimera Install Page" href="http://chimera.mozdev.org/installation.html"/><bookmark name="Mozilla.Org" href="http://www.mozilla.org"/><folder name="Entertainment"><bookmark href="http://www.ew.com" name="Entertainment Weekly"/> etc...

and the new .plist files are heaps different:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Children</key>

<key>Children</key>

</dict>
as you can see there's a massive difference between to two, so i'm not surprised that my old favourites.xml file won't work with Sarafi ver.1.

but does anyone know if there is a way to convert old favourites files to the new format so they can be used again?

or does anyone know where i could get a older version of Safari from so i could use it to open the .xml file? or is there another browser that can read .xml files?

i can at least open the .xml files in IE to make it a bit more readable, but it would be really good to be able to use them with Safari again.

any help would be very appreciated. :)
