I've downloaded Screenrecycler and Jollyfast as demos and i have my old MB as an extension screen for my MBPro.
The colour is a bit off, but the real problem is that it is slow and choppy.
Anybody got a better way to use an old MB as an extension screen?
Perhaps I should use a network cable between them instead of airport?
My OS is 10.6.8.

In my experience, a Gigabit Ethernet connection works wonders compared to AirPort, regardless. Might I suggest you give Teleport a try, it's not exactly a screen extension, but it allows you to control your Mac with another keyboard and mouse, though it can be a pain to configure. Before I got my desktop, I used to go from a 2009 MacBook to an old Dual 500 G4 just for the screen real estate.
