Using old Mail Library folder after new installation

Hello.

I always encountered this strange behaviour after a new installation of Mac OS X.

I used Mail for two Google Mail accounts, saved the Users/ME/Library/Mail folder to an external hard drive, for putting it back after a I installed my system again.

So, now that I have done it, still the Welcome to Mail screen appears where I have to input my data for my account.
I did so, but even the import mailbox function did not function properly.

So how can I use my account for Mail, that I saved to an external drive?

I used and use Mac OS 10.5.5 and Mail 3.5.

And again, I have found the solution.

I haven't copied enough.

As it turns out you have to copy the following:

1. Users/user/Library/Mail

2. Users/user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
