using optical drive out of the macbook

i ordered a ssd drive and want to replace my macbook pro mid 2012 optical drive.

the question is, can i use the optical drive even outside the macbook in some way?

Yes, you can get an external case for the SuperDrive.

A USB to SATA adapter would work.

You can also buy an enclosure for it.
