Im planning on doing some business over paypal for an item and was just wondering if i send the item as a gift via paypal (to avoid extra fees for the other guy) Am I still covered if i dont receive a product? I would of thought not as its a gift.

No, I don't believe you're covered. $40 is the limit for no-fee; it's the senders choice who eats the fees over $40.

If you are referring to Buyer's Protection, then you wont be covered on a gift. A gift is a gift. If you are worried make sure you describe the item fully ect ect in the notes part before you send.
