I'm currently still using a Mac Pro 1,1 as my main machine, and as a Plex media server. My new retina iMac arrives this Friday, and I'm wondering if it is ok to leave the iMac on with the display asleep so that I can have access to my Plex movie collection? Should there be any concern about heat, or length of time the machine is on? I hardly ever turn off my MacPro and it was always run without issue...

I don't see why not Plex isn't resource intensive for cataloging media. I have a Windows desktop currently doing this but will be moving over to the RiMac in the next few weeks so will be one of the first migrations I do.

Presumably you've set the media server to start on boot?

There will be no problems with having the machine on all the time with the screen off when not in use.
