Using tables in Pages

I started to type in the table and then discovered that the first section of the table was being repeated every time I moved on to a new page. When I tried to delete the additional text, it was also deleted from the first box. Why is this?

Did you place the table in a header or footer?

Not sure! I'm so new to the Pages after years of using Word that I don't know exactly!
