Im trying to figure out pros/cons and how to maximize the usefulness of the AVP in Europe. Maybe you guys have any input on this?
- I need to make an US Apple ID and use VPN for apps, movies etc. This will make it a hassle and add extra costs for content I already own etc.
- If the box don't fit into a suitcase I need to either post it or trash it before going back to Europe.
- VAT need to be payed. But can I get back the US tax somehow?
- Repairs can't be done in Europe. That means trips to NY until when/if it's in European Apple stores.
- Can you plug in your AVP on transatlantic flights nowadays? Would make the flight so much more fun and quick inside the AVP!
- There won't be any issues with plugging it into a European socket I guess? I down want to fry it day 1.

Yes, US Apple ID will be needed and a VPN will help your experience whilst in Europe.

AVP box size overall is about 15" x 9" x 8" which splits into separate smaller boxes inside. You can empty it and flatten the boxes.
Last summer, my wife bought a huge LV purse in Italy and it came with a large outer box - she was able to flatten it and put into her checked luggage.

Taxes are not refundable according to US CBP: https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-373?language=en_US

Repairs can be done in Europe once Apple releases AVP to Europe.

If your flight has US / North American outlet (120V) then yes you can charge your battery pack while using it at the same time.
WiFi may be an issue so be aware of what your flight offers.

The 30W Apple charger is the same as my M2 MBA so it is universal (100-240 V) but you will have to supply the plug adapter.

I'm in Canada, but one thing I am curious to get a video/screenshot of to confirm is if the Settings > Apple ID section allows for a separate Apple Id to be set within "Media & Purchases" similar to iPadOS and iOS.

If this continues to be its own setting, allowing users to switch their "Media & Purchases" account, then the the idea situation for international buyers would be that their existing Apple ID would:
  • Be associated to the device registration (Find My, reset ability, etc.)
  • Still power features like iCloud, Messages, HandOff, Continuity, Facetime, Photos ensuring these apps continue to work as expected with other devices.
At that point, while annoying to not have access to past app purchases or certain subscriptions, the US-based Apple ID just needed for installing free apps or maybe some time-limited content like 3D movie rentals. (I would avoid buying anything myself in the interim period.)

Given Apple doesn't flat out say the Vision Pro won't work for international buyers (see FAQ at bottom) but specifically notes content (and language) limitations, this theory doesn't seem a far stretch:
  • App Store requires an Apple ID with region set to the U.S.
  • Purchases on Apple Music and TV app require an Apple ID with region set to the U.S.
  • Customers may not be able to access certain apps, features, or content due to licensing or other restrictions in those countries or regions.

(Pickup options still show up for me. A 3-hour Saturday roadtrip into the USA is tempting, I'll admit.)
