Using the iPhone 3G sim in another mobile phone?

Ok; So..
I plan to get an 8GB black iPhone on the Optus 49$ cap plan.
Now, the thing being is i'm putting this all down under my mum's name.
The plan being, I unlock my iPhone *with iPwnage or something similar* and chuck my telstra 3G sim card in there.
Then, my mum takes the Optus sim from the iPhone and sticks it in her former RIZER V3 phone from optus that she used prior to updating.
Will this plan work?
