I'm selling my PM G5 because I don't need a computer right now, and will probably buy a macbook 1-2 months from now. If I clone my hard drive to an external and hook it up to the MB during installation, will it recognize this as "another mac" and copy my files and settings?

Yes, I know that works with bootable cloned fw drives, but I don't know about USB drives. I have cloned my mini to an external fw drive, and when the drive is hooked to my pb it "thinks" that it "sees" a Mac in Target Disk mode and will import from it. I just don't know if this would work if hooked up via USB, but I suspect that it would not.
