Those of you who are familiar with the "red dot of death" will know this.

I had optical only as my only option and internal speakers could not be turned on. Using the safety pin method I got internal speakers to work. However now I cannot turn on the analogue headphone outlet.

I guess I pressed the pin to hard and now the pin is stuck behind the plastic. What can I do?

Should I live with a $10 usb sound card or can I dissemble the headphone jack (which is soldered to the logic board)?

I have a mid-2010 mbp 17"

If you have an idea of what to do, go for it. Just be careful you dion't break something else! You aren't going to make the situation worse unless you break something in the process, but you could improve the situation.
