Using the same backup on multiple devices?

Hi so I recently sold my macbook pro retina and restored by backup using migration assistant to my new macbook air, well the thing is I got a new iMac today and was wondering is it possible to restore from the same backup? Any downsides/conflicts that may be caused by doing this?
