My brother is headed to Germany and wants to use his iPhone 3G-S over there.
He figures he can get a SIM card from a German provider to use while he's
there, then simply switch it back out when he comes back. Presumably, he would have to unlock the phone in order for this to work.

Does anyone have experience with this, either in Germany or in other
countries? Specific details of German providers/plans would be great, if
anyone has done this before. He's not sure if he can get a pay-as-you-go
setup or if there would need to be a contract. Fortunately he's got a
girlfriend over there so he can probably have her do the paperwork, get
the SIM card etc.

Thanks in advance!
