I am looking at purchasing an iPhone 4s from someone that used it with Verizon. I want to use it on a GSM network in Thailand. Do I need Verizon to unlock it before I leave or is it already factory unlocked so I can just pop my Thai SIM in when I land?

The iPhone 4s doesn't support LTE, so it wasn't sold "unlocked" (like how Verizon is now selling their smartphones that support LTE). At least mine wasn't. I had to call and have it unlocked before an overseas SIM would work in mine.

Are they willing to do that for someone who isn't a customer? At what price?
