Hello,

I will be travelling next week to the Dominican Republic and I was wondering if anyone knew what I needed to do to be able to use my phone over there. I would like to be able to make phone calls (only within the country) and be able to use Data. It is my understanding that the iPhones from Verizon are factory unlock. Does any one have any experience?

Thank you,

The phones are definitely unlocked. I suggest researching local companies to find out who has the best voice and data rates for a prepaid SIM.

The link below should help. The company listed for Verizon iPhone 6 in DR is Claro. Take a look at the link for more carriers in various locations.

Claro is probably the best provider in the DR. Orange is second best but Claro is way ahead. When I was in the DR I roamed on Claro (didn't use data though) and I had coverage EVERYWHERE. I even had a decent signal in some pretty dumpy border "towns" on the Haiti border.
