I got a few Visa giftcards for graduation and was wondering if I could use them to take off some of the cost on the phone and then put the rest on my debit.

Will they be ok with that?

This one gets tricky. Please call your local store: Apple or AT&T and see what they tell you and then call them again to confirm.

The issue with using multiple pre-loaded VISA cards is the max balance on each card and how the transaction is processed at POS. Most POS configurations will not support multiple sources of "Stored" Value.

I just called my local AT&T store and was told I'd have to pay either using a credit card or cash, and that debit cards and gift cards (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX) would not be accepted.
I'll try to call again tomorrow and find out though, the person I called seemed impatient and hesitant in answering.

I was able to "pre-order" at Best Buy with a pre-paid Visa card. I called Apple and they told me that pre-paid credit cards were accepted anywhere regular cards were. I can't imagine ATT would differ. Ill have the cash on hand just in case but I doubt it's a problem. Besides, when they scan the card how are they gonna know? I dont know if there is a difference between the gift cards and the pre-paid Credit Cards, but the one I use had to be activated just like a Credit Card. Did yours?>
