Thinking of getting new Apple watch 5 as I like the form factor. However I only need tim and activity / fitness usage not needing messages or e mail or music may use as gps for running routes
Can I just use it for these things and not have the others come up ?

Yep. I'm the opposite of you. I have no need for any fitness related information from the watch - I strictly use it for messages, email, etc etc...

You can use it, and have it show as much, or as little as you want.

Thanks all that’s reassuring to know just have to decide on either the 3 , 5 or 6

I use my S3 the same way you do... I actually have it on airplane mode most of the time.. (what's weird is when you activate airplane mode, it will disconnect from your iphone's bluetooth... but shortly after it connects again and remains connected...) Airplane mode keeps the GPS from activating frequently (because of my sunrise/sunset and moon phase complications, things it really only needs to check sparingly... imo..)...

And without airplane mode on, everytime you switch a watch face it activates GPS for this reason.. It's strange... anyway, what a tangent. :s
