Hi Folks,

Does anyone know of a utility that can CPU throttle a particular process or application?

Example, if I'm doing some video encoding in Handbrake, or rendering something in iDVD it will gobble up all of my CPU time, slowing down my VMWare Fusion session. Something that will put a ceiling on CPU resources for a nominated application would help a great deal.

Thanks :)

Thanks for that :)

I'm surprised there isn't a (ahem) 'nice' GUI utility for Johnny Averageuser similar to the task priority in XP/Vista.

There is such an app - Cunning Fox - but it doesn't work on the macs with Intel processors. Works pretty good on an iMac G5 though.

Blitz doesn't do what the OP wants. Its an interesting concept though. Kinda like single threading but with a multi-threaded CPU lol.
