Hi all! I recently bought an AirPort Express for my wireless internet, which I love. However... I've noticed that my download speed (especially when using uTorrent) seems to top out at an average of only 300 kbps. If I plug my MacBook Pro directly into the modem, the download speed jumps up dramatically.

Anyone know what might be causing the slower downloads with AirPort Express? The airport express is only about 10-15 feet from the computer and there are no walls inbetween, so I don't think its a signal issue.

Thanks!

OPTION/Alt click on the WiFi/AirPort icon in the Menu Bar and tell us what it says after
  • Channel
  • PHY Mode
  • Transmit Rate
.

And do you mean "KiloByte per second" (KB/s or KBps) or "Kilobit per second" (Kb/s or Kbps)?

PHY Mode: 802.11n
Channel: 6 (2.4GHz)
Transmit Rate: 130

And I mean kB/s (kiloBytes/sec)

Thanks for your help!

You should try changing to a 5 GHz channel via AirPort Utility and see, if that results in better speeds. And also limit the upload speed of µTorrent to at least half your upload speed capability provided by your ISP.
