I use utorrent on Windows so I thought I would try the same for Mac OS X but it just never worked that great.

Using Transmission for the last 2 years and not a single issue.

µTorrent. Preferences->Downloads->Open torrent files found in...

There's probably a way to do it for Transmission, too.

If the last time you tried it was 2 years ago, it's gotten much better.

Yup.

Transmission > Preferences > Transfers tab > Auto add: Watch for torrent files in...

Oh, and in the same tab, you'll need to be sure "Start transfers when added" is checked.

Transmission all the way, never used torrent so I can't comment there.

I used to use transmission on Linux prior but I enjoy the groups setting to put downloads in proper folders.

Thanks for advice. It WORKS on Transmission !!!

One more problem is How to make, that torrent files, automatically would be deleted after transfer. It needs now to delete it manually every time?

Anyway Big Thanks

The idea is you keep them open so you can 'seed' them. This lets you share them with others the stuff you have downloaded or stolen. That is the idea of torrents.

Otherwise you are known as a 'leecher' which, lets be honest, is a bit sucky

Whether you delete the torrent file doesn't affect whether the torrent stays open and active in the torrent client. If you want, you can delete the torrent file as soon as you open it and start downloading.

Of course, but I think he means after he has downloaded. Apologies if I made an incorrect assumption!

Hi guys again my problem not resolved, it opened only one time I done

Transmission > preferences > [transfer tab] >auto Add [Downloads]

It's ok only one time, next time I tried to download any torrent file, it downloads to my Download directory and didn't starts automatically downloading on Transmission.

What is the problem? Don't understand... Any other option I need to choose.

Give some advice
Big Thanks

Can't you try using the 'Magnet' link that some certain websites (TPB) offer? I don't believe that even has to download a file to start the download. See if that helps.

Edit: The magnet link is by the download link, has a pic of a magnet next to it (duh! :"D)

In Transmission goto Preferences.

In Transfers tab select Adding tab.

You should check “Trash original torrent files” and “Start transfers when added". This way the .torrent is trashed when the program opens the torrent.

To make the torrent start automatically when opened, UNCHECK all options under “Add Window:”.

You may also make the torrent program “watch” for torrents to auto add, but I have this disabled, as I don’t want another daemon running in the background.

Bonus - in the Download folder create a folder called Incomplete. In Transmission, point the incomplete files to this folder. Goto to terminal and use chflags command to hide this folder. Result: Lovely clean download folder :)

Sounds like a simple issue, the issue of investigating preferences of both apps. If you have basic understanding of English language this should not have been an issue to begin with, because both apps have option for setting up watch folders and deleting imported .torrent files.

Safari just downloads the file, you have to manually open the .torrent file. Firefox can auto open downloaded files, the first time you download a .torrent file it will prompt you something like "What to do with this kind of files?", you select open with transmission and there you go, all is like you want it.
