So whats the deal with this and Series 6? Apple made a big slash about it at the presentation, but I see nothing on the watch about it. Does the series 6 do something different with V02 Max calculation? I have been exercising 3-4 times a week since I got the watch and I dont see the reading anywhere.

My understanding is you have to do a outdoor walk or outdoor run in the workout app for at least 20 minutes and have a persistent heart rate measurement.

My own records back that up as the last time my VO2 max was reported was when I took a long outdoor walk. More recent workouts on my erg reflect no change in the reading or date.

In their presentation they said, "coming soon". I'm sure it will align with the beginning launch of Fitness+

I see my VO2 Max data in my Health app. I have an s6. The suggestion that it might only take data from outdoor walks or runs would be consistent with my input. My only workouts are outdoor walks (and drinking beer, but curiously the Apple Watch doesn’t have a workout for that).

For my last hike I didn’t get a reading but for my last outdoor walk (45 min) I got a reading

I guess I should of clarified my post. Are we talking about the notifications of VO2 Max in the watch that they mentioned? If you’re a runner the watch will estimate VO2 max in the health app but not on the watch but as other have said it’s usually a minimum of a 20 minute run in order for it to be estimated.

Apologies for being one of the people (or maybe the only person) to misunderstand. I’m a newbie on day 11 of my highly enjoyable first-ever Apple Watch ownership. I thought the only way to see VO2 max was via the all-health-stats in the iPhone Health app. How do I access that data directly from the watch?

Currently you can only view VO2 max in the health app. Future watchOS updates discussed VO2 Max notifications on the watch.
