I have one of the 2007 SR MBP's (2.2/128). I recently upgraded to generic 4gb RAM, which worked fine until I went on vacation, when it hung on screensaver while I was away from the computer, and then decided to give a kernel panic on boot every time after that. I've tried just booting with just one of each of the 2gb sticks (it seems unlikely that both would have gone bad
), but I'm still not getting anything. I'm just at the beginning of a long trip (family thing), so I don't have access to any of my original disks, etc. or even the original 1gb sticks. Any suggestions that might get this thing back up to its knees? Are there any bootable memory tests out there? I'd be open for any suggestions and I've tried to skim earlier posts for similar situations.
I can get into the boot menu by pressing alt/option, but my Windows(Boot Camp) partition also does not come up. It does appear to be posting, as it gets to the grey apple screen and spins for a time before the curtain comes down.
