If you want a leather case that will not change much over its lifespan, get a Vaja case with their floater leather. It’s treated specifically to withstand the life of your phone without, really any, patina.
If you’re looking for something that will age well, get their bridge leather. Quite a bit more seeing how you can get a “ready to ship” grip case for around $79. A custom bridge leather case will take 30 days to ship and starts at $119. I have their grip floater leather case for my 2020 se and it has not changed a bit.
Where have you been? easily one of the best leather case makers in the world. Piel Frama is another one. Postage cost and the exchange rate for Australia makes them too much though.
I've used a few for the XS Max. They certainly look and feel premium and luxurious, but didn't have the leather smell (if that's important to you).
Purchased the wallet magsafe Vaja iPhone 13 Pro Max case for my wife this year and it is a fantastic case. Holding up very well and I think the best leather case we have purchased. Next year will get the regular case for me instead of the Apple leather case I always get.
