Never bought a Mac desktop and not sure what the value on them are. Any idea what a first gen Dual 2Ghz G5 with X800 GPU would go for. I think the ram is 512, HD 160, and its a Superdrive with Wifi and BT as well. What do you think?

what the current value for a:
Powermac G5 single 1.8ghz
1gig ram
300gb hd
128mb radeon 9600 vid card
sony superdrive
airport extreme

???:D i was guessing like $900ish

900-1000 sounds good.

The prices really are everywhere, I saw a Dual 2.5 go for 1500!!

1500? how much useage does it have?

$1,500 seems like a good price for that machine and it's graphic card. :)

$900 seems about right for that Power Mac G5. :)

Keepin in this vein:

Rev A. G5 1.8DP
2.5GB RAM (8GB model, NOT the 4GB Rev B)
320GB (2x160)
ATI 9800SE
SuperDrive

Ill eventually either trade up for a Mac Pro (only for windows games of course) or keep this and go with a MBP.

in any case, what is a reasonable price range for this?

The resellers are asking about $1100 for Rev. A G5 towers with 512MB/80GB/9600Pro 64MB. So the private seller price sould be a couple hundred below that.

A high end video card (X800/X850/6800) or extra hard drives will bump the price by a hundred or two.

well Rev A or w/e, you have to think about:

Is it single or dual processor

4gb or 8GB

to me, and I would think to those buying, they make a big difference in prices.

Definitely a big factor - barefeats has a list of the most desirable G5 models, check this link and scroll down to near the bottom for the list. You want the ones that can take 8GB RAM...and you probably want to avoid the "crippled" 1.6GHz models, unless you can get a significant price cut on them.
