Hey guys. I'm thinking about selling my 2017 iMac.
I know it's been awhile since I last posted. You guys always help with great positive feedback.

I'm thinking of selling it locally.

What do you guys think?

Uh.. internal storage? Reviewing eBay your best bet to determine resale value.

Thanks.

I gave that a shot. They go for somewhere between $90 - $110.

Somehow I thought it would be worth more than that.

Oh well..

It's a relatively low spec Intel Mac which cannot run a more recent version of macOS than Ventura. Support for Ventura will end sometime later this year (perhaps October).

I see.

Well, maybe I can post it on Facebook.
I'm trying to start a retro video game collection.

That might me better.

What do you think?

I'm also getting ready to sell my 2017 21.5" model, although mine is the 4K with only 8GB RAM and regular HDD. You don't say where you are, but in the DC area in the US I see a lot of these advertised in the $200 range. I suggest starting a little high and lowering the price if it doesn't sell. I would mention the 4K display - a lot of the ones for sale here are the base model without 4K - and if it has an SSD instead of fusion, mention that. Say that it's had all its updates.

Otherwise, I plan on taking nice pictures, including the original keyboard and mouse, screenshot of the about this mac window. I'm pretty sure you can get more than $90-110 for it.

How can you be sure of erasing the hard drive before selling. I followed the direction that apple suggests and wonder if there is still hidden data that can be mined by expert hackers. Need I be nervous ?

I honestly don't think think that could be an issue. If you're concerned, I use a program called killdisk. I use it where I volunteer at.

Erasing internal storage will require different techniques depending on whether your internal storage is hard drive, Apple Fusion Drive, or SSD. Make sure you are following the correct procedure for your type of internal storage.
