Hi,

I recently bought the new macbook. I want to be able to transfer vhs to dvd with my macbook. I know I will need some type of converter but I do not know exactly what to get. I know the new macbooks have a lack of firewire on them so is there any converts that will use usb? I do not own a camera that will plug in the mac with the rca hook ups. Any ideas?

Thanks

Many, if not most video capture devices are now USB. Some of the older, and better devices (like Canopus) are still Firewire however.

I have the EyeTV 250+ and like it. It's great for digitizing videos and editing them in iMovie (I use Final Cut Express, slightly better but not much) and the TV tuner and DVR is nice. However the TV functionality gets less and less valuable as my cable company moves more and more channels from analog to digital-only.

You will need lots of hard disk space for videos, and even more for swap file space if you edit them. I have a half-full 250GB and it works fine.
