Hello,
I purchased a Sonnet eGFX breakaway box last week and a Vega 56 video card to use in it. Everything worked perfectly for about 3 days and then my 2018 Mac Mini froze and I had to manually restart. When the computer restarted, the display was no longer receiving a video signal from the Vega card and I had to directly connect the Mac Mini to my display.

Going into System Information, the Vega 56 card is now listed under “PCI” instead of “Graphics/Displays.” Also it is listed as not having drivers installed. I have tried reinstalling 10.14.5 but it did not resolve.

Any ideas what is going on or how to resolve?

Thanks!

Do you have access to another TB3 enabled Mac?

I experienced a similar issue with the egpu not showing up with my mac.

Plugging the sonnet box into a working TB3 mac and back into my mac worked.

Worst comes to worst, try installing Catalina on an external USB hard disk and seeing if the eGPU shows up. If that works, my advice is to upgrade to Catalina (and maybe even the beta) asap. :)
