Has anyone used the Velan fast dvd copy... and have any tips on how to use it for the best possible quality and outcome... also best way to deal with movies that are too big for for the dvd (greater than 4.7 gb)..

and is there a better program to be using for backing up your dvd movies at home?

An alternative method of backing up DVD's is to use a free app like MacTheRipper or DVDBackup to extract the content from the DVD. Then use DVD2OneX to compress it to be able to fit onto a 4.7 GB disc then burn using Toast.

It sounds like a long winded method but it really isn't and works out to be a lot cheaper than using Fast DVD Copy.

I agree with the previous poster. That is the exact setup I use. FastDVDCopy isn't worth the $100 considering the poor support and problems that recent versions have caused. Check www.versiontracker.com for supporting evidence of this.
