My macbook with Ventura Ventura cannot read external drive. The external drive is formatted as HFS+. The external drive is a Western Digital Passport. The drive comes up in Disk Utility but when I try to mount it I get 119930868 error. Any idea how to resolve?

Other than to format it, I don't know. I can read HFS+ drives no problem on Ventura.

Have you tried diskutil verifyDisk diskX && diskutil repairDisk diskX and diskutil verifyVolume diskXsY && diskutil repairVolume diskXsY?

NOTE: Replace X and Y with the corresponding attributes.

Also, have you tried restoring the disk to another one to copy (back up) all the data? Or just going onto a Mac that works with it and copying the files over so you don't lose them?

Nothing. Tried Lous article too.

It would be great if there were third party tools that could diagnose and repair problems like this, but since Apple is being such asshats with providing documentation for APFS, that's not happening any time soon.
