I have an M1 Mac Mini with an LG ultra fine 5K monitor. I’ve seen a few posts that say it does not work over USB C. Has anyone tried this? Trying to decide whether or not to update.

Thanks

I avoided the USB-C connection temptation with the LG 32 Ergo monitor when I got the Mac Studio, and have used my old Moshi Thunderbolt 3 to Displayport cable without issues so far.

The only times I have ever had an issue is with the cable, you need very specific ones which all look the same.

This is a bug with most OSX releases. Reboot your Mac, and unplug your monitor. Plug back in and it should work.

I've had this issue on my LG 32' 4K Ergo everytime there has been a OSX update (Small or Large).

Do you use the usb-c cable that came with the LG display?

2017 12" MacBook with USBC running a 27" LG Ultrafine 5k here.

MacBook Pro - M1 MAX - LG 5k Ultrafine (as second monitor - primary is Pro Display XDR) -> working fine with Monterey.

LG 5k Ultrafine NO longer working with Ventura :( Tried everything (turned on and off / tried different thunderbolt cable, tried with only the LG5k connected - nothing... extremely disappointed...

Wow, I'm really glad I came here before upgrading to Ventura! I have an M1 Macbook Air connected to a 24" LG Ultrafine, which had audio dropout issues prior to the last OS update.

I find that a lot of issues are easily avoided by staying on the prior version of Mac OS or iOS for a few months after an upgrade is released, but my Apple Care replacement iPad Air 3 just required an update to iPad OS 16 in order to complete the transfer (strange, because the one being replaced was on the last version of 15)

I went ahead and did the upgrade (M1 Mac Mini with 32 inch LG Ultrafine). It went fine. I’m using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable plugged into the USB C port on the monitor and a thunderbolt port on a Belkin Dock.

I had the same issue with my LG 880 connected via USB-C to my MacBook Pro 13" M1 after I updated to Ventura today. Unplugging, rebooting, changing Accessory Setting to Always, nothing helped.
What did resolve the issue however was to unplug the monitor and pull the power plug for a couple of minutes. Plugging power into the monitor again and connecting it to the MacBook Pro and suddenly it got recognised and works again.

On a side note, when I tested Ventura (had to give up and go back to Monterey due to a PLETHORA of other much more severe problems) with dual Asus VZ27A displays, one of them will not go any higher than 1080p while the other works fine at its native 2560×1440. It appears to be a strange refresh rate detection issue that is not easily altered without third party tooling. 😫

This works for my LG 880 connected via USB-C. Thanks.
