‘Verbose’ blue startup screen (MBP 15”, 2011) - how to get rid of?

Hello:

I bought a defective 15” MBP (late 2011) for parts. Curiously, when I start the machine from an external bootable High Sierra USB stick I transiently get this ‘verbose’ blue screen:

The entire sequence goes as follow:

1. startup chime
2. [ALT] select bootable USB drive (no internal HDD installed)
3. progress bar
4. 'verbose' blue screen
5. blanc bright grey screen, fans at high speed, stays such

Does anybody know what is going on, and how I could get rid of the blue screen?

BTW, I get the same if I start from Internet Recovery.

Solution: PRAM reset!
