Can any Mac O.S. be verified to ensure the proper authenticated operating system is installed ?

I had an incident in which an install from scratch revealed two different results. If an operating system cannot be verified then it is not trust worthy.

If the Mac boots up and runs and does what I want it to do, I'd reckon that the "operating system that is installed" is good enough for me... :)

My understanding (which is limited), is that MacOS 11 (Big Sur) has a system using cryptographic hashes on all immutable part of the OS, that are used to verify that the OS has not been altered and is properly signed by Apple. Look for information on "Sealed System Volume" or "Signed System Volume" in Big Sur and upcoming Monterey.
