OK - so I'm a bit confused. Verizon is really pushing to use a new "5G" SIM card in the new iPhones. Why? Do we really think there is a difference in the SIM? They can tell, I think, because I believe I got a message to use the new SIM when activating.
Is this a ploy to get people to use a new SIM and thus they get more $$ on activation fees? Or is there a real need? I asked a local Verizon store and they swear that it DOES make a difference in speeds, even though your iPhone will register you on the 5G network that it will not get the full capability of 5G.
I just don't know if I buy it? Thoughts here? Why can't I just use the eSIM and not get a new SIM card? Would it matter? Did you use the new 5G sim or just move your old one over?
To clarify, I kept my old sim and works fine. But I swear the speeds STINK! Like, 3-4 Mbps and only sometimes get up to 10Mbps. On 5G! Good service.
