So I've heard reports that the T-Mobile prepaid plan was accepted for use in the iPhone upgrade program by some people if the plan was already active. I know I can't count on it but I thought I would give it a try.

The problem? I don't currently have a smart phone. I used an iPad Mini as a smart phone for a long time, but I don't currently have a phone to activate the plan on until I get my new phone.

My friend has a 5S on Verizon postpaid and I was wondering if I temporarily put in the $30 Walmart T-Mobile prepaid sim card into her phone just to activate the plan, if it would have a chance of affecting her Verizon service in any way.

I don't want to end up making her line get automatically cancelled or something get changed with her service, I just want to temporarily borrow the phone to activate the T-Mobile SIM card and want to make sure this is safe. Does anybody know for sure if this will work, having tried such a thing?
