I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this, it appears it has been news for several days now. Either I'm completely missing something here, or it just hasn't been mentioned. So here it is:

1 GB - $20
3 GB - $35
5 GB - $50
10 GB - $80

For me personally, I like the offerings and they have solidified my decision to go with Verizon. I was on the fence but this pushed me to Verizon's side. I plan to use 3G very sparingly, mostly on vacations or roadtrips where I know I won't have constant access to Wi-Fi. For me, 250 MB from AT&T is not enough, but in most cases 2GB will be too much for me. It's nice that I'll have a 1GB option available at $20 as that will suite my needs personally.

But what do you guys think? Are these good prices?

That pricing is rough. I feel for you guys down south.

Down south? AT&T 3G coverage is terrible in Michigan too.

This solidifies my choice to go with ATT. Verizon is charging 20 bucks for 1gb, and with att for 5 bucks more you get 2 gb. So Verizon is definately more expensive in this neighborhood.

I dont plan on using it much on 3g, but will be nice to not have to worry about it for 5 bucks more. On top of that ATT's network is faster then Verizon's...

The 1GB option looks like a sweet spot. I had the ATT $15 250MB data option but I seldom used more than 150MB.
But the costs get unreasonable fast there for 3 or 5 GB

My local cellular company has 5GB for $30 for a phone and I can get a WIFI HotSpot phone to connect a WIFI iPad.
I'm thinking of getting a 5th gen iPhone this Summer if the plan prices are reasonable and a WIFI only iPad this time now.

Wish one of these companies would offer something like 10gb for $100 and 1 year to use it.

I still have the "unlimited" plan with AT&T:cool:

grant it I don't use more than 500mb 80% of the time but when I travel then I stream the hell out of hulu and netflix...lol

Every time I see a post about data cost like this I download the 1.06 GB 10.6.6 update using Atomic Browser on my unlimited 3G data plan on the iPad.

Wheeee look at that data fly!

This just reaffirms to me that sticking with my unlimited data on my iPhone along with MyWi is the clear choice to stick with for my iPad 2. Sure there might be some spots that are rough but I was considering a Verizon model but with this data pricing, it's gonna be a pass. Appreciate the link OP.

Looks like they basically priced it around AT&T's current prices, but avoided the same $25 for 2GB plan. Basically it's the same deal you get from AT&T except you pay for the extra GBs up front.

Comparison:

Code:
Data AT&T Verizon

1GB N/A $20
2GB $25 $40*
3GB $35* $35
4GB $45* $45*
5GB $55* $50
''
10GB $105* $80

* - Previous plan plus overage charge.

AT&T overages calculated based on "post-paid" plan only.

Basically AT&T and Verizon have the same deal at 4GB and below (except 2GB & 1GB), and Verizon is a better deal at 5GB and above. Both are a crappy deal if you already have unlimited from AT&T.
