Is it possible to be on Verizon’s iPhone every year program but get your phones through Apple?

Yes, as long as you are eligible to upgrade. And when you go through Apple. pick Verizon as your carrier etc.

I’ve heard a few times that if you try it won’t let you on Apple’s website. I think it had something to do with the site not allowing u to pay off the rest of your device and the whole returning your old device process. Was it like that at one time but they changed it?

That’s how I got my X but, I was just starting the Verizon IUP so I’m not sure how it works if you have to upgrade from last years phone. I’m curious how it works too because I’d rather deal with Apple..

You can definitely do it at the Apple store if you are starting the program if you are new or if you are doing another round of device payment if the old device is completely paid off. I know if your device is not half paid off, it MUST be done through Verizon, but I'm curious now about a device that is half or over half paid off - I'm still under the impression it has to be done through Verizon, but now I'm curious if you could do it at Apple. Because honestly, F dealing with carrier store slick rick know-nothings and Verizon's $50 (!) restocking fee.

I'd rather pay my device off to get Verizon out of my hair, then sell it or trade it elsewhere and then start device payment again through Apple like a new customer so I don't have to deal with Verizon if I lose the Apple quality control lottery and have to do multiple swaps to get a good device.

I might go this route to if I’m forced to go through Verizon. The only reason I didn’t do Apple IUP was I didn’t want AppleCare+

This is how I got my Gold XS Max yesterday! I originally pre-ordered through Verizon but Verizon had the Gold 256 XS Max on back order until 10/3 and either the verizon stores inventory was not updated online or they really did not have any stock on the phones, but I checked apples website and my closest apple store had it in stock. I went to apple and was able to purchase the phone through the Verizon Device Payment Program! My 7+ was already halfway paid off and when going through carrier options at the physical apple store, they have the option to return your device to Verizon! They (apple employee) then print out the return shipping label for you to mail your old phone back to Verizon! Will definitely be using this method next time around!

I was under the assumption that you had to go through Verizon so this is good to know.

Is there a special package they give you to ship the phone back or do you have to pack it yourself?

I’m on the same page with you. I’m going to have to eat the restocking fee because I got the gold Max and don’t like it. I just chatted with Apple and they said you have to do it through Verizon.

hmm very good to know, had no idea apple could handle a DPP upgrade for a device somewhere between half paid off and entirely paid off.

just to be clear can someone confirm the below situation

i owe 290 on my X to get me to the half way point so i am eligible for an upgrade through verizon

I do not like dealing with verizon nor its stores....

What i would like to do is pay the 290 then i will be eligible
go to apple trade in my 8plus (paid for secondary phone) apply that amount towards upgrading to the Max

Can i pay the upgrade fee of 290 then go to apple store to purchase the new phone using the verizon upgrade program ?

thanks in advance
