I have a Verizon account that is not eligible for an upgrade until May of 2013 (bought iPhone 4s on release day).
So if I buy an iPhone 5 now at the full price upgrade, I take it that the phone is not unlocked but does Verizon extend my contract for two additional years?
I understand that I might not be able to get a full price unlocked phone on day one - but if I wait, would it be correct in assuming that for the same price, my contract would not be extended and I could then go to Verizon and have it added as my primary device and take my iPhone 4s off the account?
Also, I thought the phone companies now legally have to provide you with a way to unlock your phone (at least when your contract is up) - is this not so?
