Looking at the Verizon website it seems like you can swap phone numbers for 2 phones on the same account but was wondering if there was a better way to do this.

I'm going to get the iPhone 6s and I have an iPhone 6. I want a new number, which will be assigned to the iPhone 6 and my iPhone 6s to have the existing number of the iPhone 6.

So when I order it on Friday, do I go ahead and order the iPhone 6s with a new number? Then just call Verizon after I get it to have them do the swap? Or?

You actually don't have to call Verizon at all. Once you establish your new phone line, and receive your iPhone 6s. Then go online to your Verizon account go to Devices, then select "Activate or Switch Device". Then elect the phone # you want it to have, and click next. Then select the device you want to receive the code, and click next. It's pretty easy.
