Verizon insurance cover lost or theft?

Does anyone know if the Verizon insurance covers a lost or stolen iPhone 5? My mom is telling me Verizon told her yes, I want to make sure she isn't being had.

It sure does. It's still about $177 (I think) to replace it though.

No option is ever one size fits all. Applecare+ doesn't cover loss or theft so it's irrelevant.
