I do not like the Verizon due to the sim being killed after 5 months of no activity the sim is dead. Can I go to the AT&T store and get a sim and use it on their network?

Sim

If you have a cellular iPad Air and it has a Verizon sim card, you can go to ATT and get a sim and it operates on their network. On Verizon, if you activate the cellular option for a month, and then cancel, you must activate it again before 5 months or the sim is killed.

Why would you have a Verizon version and not use it on Verizon for 5 months? Wasn't that the point of getting one with cell data?

Some people might want to have cellular data only once in a while. Like they go on vacation, they turn on the data for use during the trip, then turn it off when they are home, and want to turn it on again next time they take a trip. Time between trips could easily be more than 5 months.

You are absolutely correct. That is my reason.
