Verizon iPhone 4 Doesn't Wake iTunes

I've noticed that when i plug my charging cable into my iphone 4 sometimes it doesn't wake itunes it will still charge but itunes doesn't come up to sync usually i'll have to unplug the usb connector and plug it back in for itunes to sync with my iphone. am i doing something wrong when trying to sync/charge my iphone 4 ?

I believe this a setting that you can change in iTunes. Do any other iPhones/iPods wake it?

If you're using a Mac, make sure that iTunes Helper is running and is in the startup items for your user. Presumably there is something similar for Windows, but I'm not sure what that is.
