This is going to be my first iPhone. I am planning on waking up at 2:30 in order to preorder 2 iPhone 4S's and go back to bed. But I have one question: Should I change my plan now, before I purchase the iPhone? I'm coming from a feature phone so I'm guessing I have to change my plans and all.

No point since you can't add the dataplan from a feature phone to this one. As you go through the process, it will just ask you what you want to add feature wise. Its quite simple and i wouldn't stress about it.
