I have a Verizon iPhone 5, and as far as I know, all Verizon iPhone 5's come GSM unlocked. I would like to switch to T-Mobile for the simple fact that Verizon is just to expensive. I wanted to know If this is possible, and if it is, what kind of data speeds would I be looking at on T-Mobile?

Some one can correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is that its only unlocked for gsm international use. Would still have to get it carrier unlocked to use T-Mobile. As for speeds you will get slower speeds as they have almost next to no LTE support and Verizon has a lot more LTE support.

That is false. You can use it on any gsm carrier even domestic us.
All verizon i5 are unlocked out of the box without having to request anything from the carrier.
To the op it will work fine you just will be stuck using 2G edge for data in most places.
Just stick a Tmobile nano sim and you're done.
