Verizon iPhone 5 Shortage?

Just thought I'd pass along a little info I managed to scrape up. I live in Omaha and called the Apple Store earlier today asking about their stock of 5s. The specialist told me that they have none for Verizon but have many for the other two carriers. He also said that there were no Verizon models in their shipments the last two days. So I called around to the Verizon stores and they also indicated that they didn't have any.

Thoughts? Are any of you experiencing this problem?

Got my Verizon phone delivered Monday, 5 days ahead of schedule.
 
Verizon was the ONLY model they had in stock where I bought mine (granted they only had two overall).

I think it depends largely on where you live. Phones with the best service in specific areas will probably have more shortages in those areas. The first thing I thought when I read your post is that perhaps ATT and Sprint don't have particularly good service where you're shopping.

Yeah, couldn't find any models last two nights for Verizon. Didn't try other carriers but find it hard there were no apple store reservations for the other two carriers like the problems I am having for Verizon.

Yeah I thought that too. I know most of the people I know are on Verizon so the demand may not be as high for Sprint and ATT here.

I've been trying the past few nights as well and it makes me think I should switch carriers but oh well...I guess I'll keep on trucking tonight at 10
 
Oh, also just remembered that the primary reason I switched to VZW was because their phones come factory unlocked, even on contract. I travel a lot so this was a big deal for me. This may also affect demand. An unlocked iPhone 5 for $199 + $375 ETF is still cheaper than a factory unlocked contract-free iPhone 5.
 
I tried to get my phone replaced and the Apple store told me Verizon phones in most places were back ordered and would not be available till the weekend. He then told me that if I came in Friday afternoon that they would be able to swap out phones for me.
 
Then it looks like we may have to wait until this weekend. I've been calling stores everyday for the past week but haven't come up with anything. Hopefully our persistence will pay off. :eek:
