Hi guys,

The Verizon iPhone 5 didn't support simultaneous voice and data, but if I'm reading Apple's FAQ correctly, it looks like the 5S will. Anybody else interpreting it like I am?

Are there differences between an iPhone for AT&T or T-Mobile and an iPhone for Sprint or Verizon Wireless?
iPhone offers the same innovative features regardless of the wireless carrier you choose.

If you choose AT&T or T-Mobile as your wireless carrier, your iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s will use GSM cellular technology for voice services and either GSM or LTE cellular technology for data services. Your iPhone 4s will use GSM cellular technology for voice and data services. All three devices can roam internationally on many GSM carriers around the world. See below for more details.

If you choose Sprint or Verizon Wireless as your wireless carrier, your iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s will use CDMA cellular technology for voice services and either CDMA or LTE cellular technology for data services. Your iPhone 4s will use CDMA cellular technology for voice and data services. An iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 4s activated on Sprint or Verizon Wireless also has the ability to roam internationally on GSM networks using the provided SIM. For details on LTE network support, please see

It would seem like the phone will be able to use both antennas at once, while the CDMA iPhone 4s continues to be incapable.

The 4S doesn't have LTE, hence why it is excluded from the 5S and 5C in that sentence. Looking at the AT&T/T-Mobile answer, it doesn't make a mention of simultaneous voice and data. If it was worth mentioning, it would be in that section. Knowing that, the statements in the Verizon/Sprint section doesn't provide any useful information upon the subject.

It won't http://m.cnet.com/news/verizon-sprints-iphone-5s-wont-juggle-data-voice/57602477

(Don't know how to post links sorry)

As of right now, the iPhone 5S and 5C will not support simultaneous voice and data on CDMA carriers.

That said, IIRC the iPhone 5, 5C, and 5S are all capable of VoLTE (Voice over LTE), which Verizon plans to roll out sometime next year, which would allow Verizon 5/C/S owners to talk and use data at the same time.

I'm not seeing where it states that it will be able to do both at the same time.

Wishful thinking.
Some will read that basic info as the verizon 5S does talk and pull data:)
It does not.

Where did you hear that they are volte enabled already?
That would need a hardware upgrade.

I thought I had read that the iPhone 5 supported VoLTE via hardware but not via software (and subsequently the 5C and 5S) but simple research proved me wrong.

Ahh well. Maybe the iPhone 6 will see it.
