Carrier verizon iphone 7 on Att

So my local apple store has the iPhone 7 for verizon,in stock now says the verizon phone is unlocked and can be used on GSM networks. Can I buy the verizon phone outright at the apple store and just pop my att sim in the new phone? Thanks
