so i have a verizon iphone 6 right now and i am wondering if i do a full backup on itunes can i apply that backup to a tmobile iphone 6? will the hardware make the backup incompatible?

It will work fine.
The hardware or carrier device has nothing to do with the backup.
All it does it copies over your contacts, settings and all other software features that were customized to your liking.
