this says nothing about the iPhone, don't you think if the iPhone was coming to Verizon any time soon, they would advertise that fact, to prevent loosing customers who are on the fence...

You guys with Verizon have fun with your waiting a full 2 years to upgrade with subsidy. I am perfectly happy with AT&T getting an upgrade every 12-18 months (since I am the main line on a large family plan). And yes, my 3G is very fast, and yes, I have great service here which has only been getting better over the past year.

And for the record, I see absolutely no reasoning at all to link this to an iPhone release.

No , they would do the opposite. Verizons been making a big push with android hoping to lock those guys in. Saying the iphones coming out would make ppl wait and mean less $$ for verizon . Many reports show the iphone being launched in january anyways and by changing the phone upgrade policy, it may increase sales for verizon .
